The Myot Council of Elders in Uasin Gishu county have pledged to vigorously campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto ahead of the repeat Presidential elections.
The elders made the pledge after a meeting with Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago and his Deputy Daniel Chemno in Eldoret town on Friday.
Addressing the press after the meeting, the elders led by Council's chairman Alex Mursi said they will ensure President Kenyatta gets as many votes as possible in the repeat poll scheduled for October 26.Over 500 elders attended the meeting.
"We will do door-to-door campaign for the Jubilee candidate across the county and we believe we can deliver maximum votes this time round," Mursi said.
Similar sentiments were shared by governor Mandago who said they will be seeking to ensure almost 100 percent voter turnout.
During the August 8 polls, Uasin Gishu with 450,055 registered voters had 77 percent voted turnout.
"We want to ensure those who didn't vote in August do so in October because we are targeting to beat NASA with a bigger margin," Mandago noted.
