Uasin Gishu Kalenjin Council of Elders will hold a peace meeting in Eldoret town to bring communities in the region together ahead of October 26 presidential election.
Chairman Major John Seii said the meeting, dubbed “Peace Plus Caravan”, will be held on October 21 at 64 stadium in Eldoret.
“The political pressure that we are experiencing is not good for our country that why we have decided to bring all communities together and encourage them to bring peace,” he said in Eldoret town, Wednesday.
“For heaven sake, our leaders should sober up. We don’t want what transpired in 2007 to reoccur,” he added
Seii called on Kenyans to maintain peace and harmonious co-existence as the country prepares for the repeat presidential election on October 26.
“It’s imperative that the country remained peaceful during and after the presidential poll so that people could continue with their normal activities without fear. If you do not want to vote, leave it, but trying to sabotage the election is breaking the law and causing crisis in our country,” he noted
