Kalenjin elders in Uasin Gishu have hailed voters in the county for voting in leaders based on their directions.
Myoot council of elders coordinator Mjr. (rtd) John Seii said despite opposition from a section of politicians and locals, their formula of sharing top leadership among the three regions in the county was followed.
In the run up to the general elections, the elders suggested that the governor seat should go to a candidate from Eldoret North, Senator to Eldoret East and Woman Representative to Eldoret South.
Mandago beat billionaire businessman Zedekiah Bundotich Buzeki to retain the gubernatorial seat with Prof. Margaret Kamar and Gladys Boss Shollei wining Senator and Woman Rep. seat respectively.
"We are glad that finally what we directed came to pass despite opposition. People should learn to respect what the elders say because they always have a good reason," Seii said in Eldoret, Sunday.
He reiterated that during the elections period they will always be giving directions on how best to share leadership positions for equal representations.
"The last time we shared positions based on regions, this time round you never know we might focus on constituencies. We might also pronounce our positions on other seats like MP and MCA," noted Seii.
