In an exclusive interview with the Standard, Kalonzo said that he has no reason to stand with Raila if he is not assured of winning the presidency in 2017.

According to Kalonzo, he will not hesitate to stand with the former Prime Minister on condition that he is going to smoke out President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto from office.

When asked on whether he will rally the electorate to vote for Raila in the next general elections, Kalonzo said he has no problem.

“That is why I am saying I can’t afford that approach. I am not saying that this time he may not win but we must look at it. If we are going to end the same way we did then he cannot be the flag bearer. If I am the flag-bearer and the possibility is that I am going to lose, again I should not be the flag bearer. So we have a lot of introspection to do and being as straight forward as that” he said as quoted by the Standard.
