Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has asked the government to provide more funds to the education bursary kitty.
Kalonzo says that increasing the funds will enable more students to access bursaries.
Speaking at Machakos town over the weekend, Musyoka said that education must be made affordable to all Kenyans.
“The government should think of increasing bursary funds to help more needy students,” he said.
The former VP said that many needy but bright students are languishing in slums and villages for lacking school fees.
Musyoka also asked the government to initiate strategies that will improve education standards across the country.
He however criticised suggestions that education should be devolved noting that the sector is critical.
Musyoka added that education can only be devolved if the government allocates more resources to the counties.
On the same note, Musyoka asked the county governments in Ukambani region to focus on service delivery. He said that delivery of services should be the first agenda for every county government.
The Cord co-principal at the same time warned rebel members that they will be kicked out of the party and the coalition.
Musyoka said that party members who fail to adhere to rules and regulations will be kicked out.
He said that they are investigating the conduct of some members who have on several occasions flouted party and coalition regulations.
“We are not going to tolerate members who are with us during the day but at night they are seen dining with our opponents. Every Wiper part member must show support and help achieve the vision and mission of the party,” he said.
The former VP also said that Cord will remain united ahead of the 2017 general elections. He rubbished claims that there is disunity in Cord dismissing them as just rumours.
