Kalonzo speaks on Solai ‘killer’ dam tragedy
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has condoled with the families that lost their relatives in the harrow Solai dam tragedy that has claimed 48 lives.
Kalonzo termed the tragedy as unfortunate, urging the families to take heart.
He called for speedy investigations into the incident, stating that action should be taken if there was negligence on the owner or contractors.
"The investigative agencies should urgently get to the ground and ensure that no stone is left un-turned into what caused the dam to burst its banks,” Kalonzo said as quoted by a local daily on Friday.
The former Vice President also asked the government to provide aid to all the affected persons.
Kalonzo further asked the government to assess all the dams and water reservoirs across the country in order to prevent a similar tragedy.
The Patel dam located at Solai in Subukia, Nakuru County, burst its banks on Wednesday night sweeping through three villages.
According to the Kenya Red Cross, the tragedy has so far claimed lives of 48 people.
Various leaders and Kenyans across the country continue to send their condolences to families of the victims as rescue operations at the killer dam nears conclusion.
