Wiper Democratic Movement party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has cautioned Mwingi Central Member of Parliament Dr. Gideon Mulyungi over the recent spat with Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu.
The Wiper boss said the unity of the Kamba nation is paramount for the community to succeed in its quest to win the Presidency in 2022.
Kalonzo said whilst Governor Ngilu is a NARC Kenya member, they have forged a united front to galvanize the Kamba nation as a united block which will attract future partnerships that will eventually enable the community ascent to the house in the hill.
“Hon. Mulyungi calm down, I don’t want fights between you and Governor Ngilu, we have been the political antagonist with Charity for a long time, but now she is the Governor of Kitui, we cannot realize any development with continuous squabbles,” Kalonzo told the MP.
“When they brought fictitious cases against Charity I stood with her, I was her lawyer because that is what unity is, being there for our sister in the hour of need,” he added.
Kalonzo further warned that the quest for the Presidency in 2022 cannot be achieved when leaders are at each other's throat in his home county whilst he is expected to traverse the whole country seeking support.
“If we are serious about 2022, then I need peace at home, from MCA’s to MP’s, Senator and Governor, but not spats day in day out,” said the Wiper party leader.
He made the remarks on Saturday at the burial ceremony of Mzee Paul Mutemi, a longtime political friend, in Enziu, Mwingi Central, Kitui County.
The three counties of Kitui, Machakos and Makueni on Easter Monday converged in Koma, Machakos County where the declaration of a united front and concerted effort to propel Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka to the presidency in 2022 was resolved.
Just one week after the Koma meeting, supporters of Mulyungi and those of Governor Ngilu clashed in Mwingi town over critically threatening the fragile unity.
