Kalonzo says that women have what it takes to contest for top seats in the August 8 polls.

The former Vice President (VP) notes that the constitution has given women equal opportunity to contest for seats just like their male counterparts.

Speaking when he addressed participants in the ongoing 4th Devolution Conference in Naivasha on Wednesday, the Wiper leader asked women not to fear higher leadership positions.

“I want to challenge women to come out and vie for top seats like the presidency, governor, senator and others,” he said.

Kalonzo said that the Kenyan constitution recognizes the role of women in leadership.

He said the country will achieve its development goals if women take up leadership roles.

The former VP at the same time took a swipe at Jubilee government accusing it of allegedly failing to pass the two third gender rule.

The Wiper Party leader said that failure by the National Assembly and the Senate to pass the two third gender rule is an obstacle to women leadership and representation.

Kalonzo at the same time urged women to rally behind NASA saying the alliance  has their interests at heart.
