Kalonzo asked his counterparts Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang'ula to stop criticising Raila and instead concentrate on strengthening NASA to play its role as the country's opposition outfit.

"We should not waste our time complaining about our brother Raila Odinga over the handshake. Let us remain united to hold Jubilee accountable," he said.

Speaking when he closed Wiper meeting in Naivasha on Saturday, the former Vice President welcomed the handshake between Uhuru and Raila terming it a right move in unifying the country.

"The unity deal should not be between two individuals but among all Kenyans as it would ensure lasting peace which is prerequisite in nation building," Kalonzo noted.

Raila, the ODM party leader, has been under heavy criticism from his co-principals for reaching out the President without involving them.

The former Prime Minister, however, has told off the critics saying the handshake was necessary to change tack to solve the deep-rooted divisions that have prevailed in the country since independence.

"We realised our problems started when our leaders differed immediately after attaining independence and that is what we want to change. It is time to take a different lane so that our country can heal," Raila told his supporters in Migori on Saturday.
