Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has dismissed ODM secretary general Agnes Zani’s statement that the NASA National Coordinating Committee had agreed on a presidential candidate and running mate.
Kalonzo asked Zani to withdraw her statement as nothing had been agreed upon.
"Zani has to withdraw the remarks publicly. Nothing is [final] until it is agreed upon. We do not have a flag bearer as of now," the former vice president said on Wednesday.
The Wiper leader said they were still holding talks to settle on an ideal candidate.
"This will not persist for another month, I assure you. Reports are being prepared and we will take a decision later on the issue," he said.
He added, "We cannot afford to go that way...there was a tremendous leakage from the technical committee and if they can’t guard their secret then they are not loyal."
On Tuesday, Zani said the NCC report was erroneously leaked, but was accurate.
"The report was leaked in the form the media presented. A few aspects and figures were not those of the committee but the line-up presented had been agreed on," she said.
Her remarks were also dismissed by Amani National Congress secretary general Geoffrey Osotsi.
"We are outraged - and Zani ought to know - that admission by ODM party that it is responsible for dirty propaganda leaks undermines the credibility and integrity of the NASA process," he said.
The leaked NASA document proposed Raila Odinga as flag bearer, Kalonzo the running mate, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi the Chief Minister and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula the Speaker of the National Assembly or Leader of Majority.
