Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has vehemently denied claims that he allegedly grabbed 500 acres of land in Yatta, Machakos county said to belong to the National Youth Service (NYS).
Speaking to journalists when he closed the Wiper Women nominated and elected leaders conference in Athi River on Tuesday, Kalonzo rubbished the claims, said that he genuinely bought the land in question on a willing buyer, willing seller basis.
Kalonzo said that he has proof to show that he legally purchased the land.
The former Vice President said that he bought the land from one Janet Chirichir, trashing claims that he grabbed the parcel of land.
The NASA deputy leader accused the Jubilee government of political witch-hunt aimed at tarnishing his name.
“I am not a land grabber and I can produce documents to show that the land in question was genuinely bought,” he told journalists.
Kalonzo said that he will not be intimidated by Jubilee administration which he said is fighting hard to bring him down.
The National Youth Service claims that it is the genuine and registered owner of the contested land.
According to a local daily, the National Youth Service on Monday, issued Kalonzo with a 14 days order to vacate the land in question.
Controversy surrounding the 500 acre Yatta land first came to the limelight in 2016 when Machakos governor Alfred Mutua told the senate committee on County Public Accounts and Investments that Kalonzo had allegedly used his influence when he served as Vice President during former President Mwai Kibaki’s regime to acquire the parcel of land.
Governor Mutua had then asked the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the National Lands Service Commission (NLC) to have the matter investigated.
