Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has described former Cabinet Minister John Keen as a true nationalist.
The veteran politician and Maasai elder died during Christmas, aged 90, only three months after William Ole Ntimama, a former Cabinet Minister and Maasai elder died.
"John Keen was a true nationalist in the true sense of the word and a fearless man. John Keen was very vocal against tribalism… was fluent in various Kenyan languages never stomached the kind of politics characterised by negative ethnicity,'' said the Wiper Democratic Movement party leader.
He said Keen dug in for democracy in Kenya and was somebody who could be relied on.
''He was also very concerned about corruption, and about the very high level of nepotism and tribalism. We will truly miss you sir may you rest in peace,'' added Kalonzo.
Keen served as a Cabinet Minister in the Moi government in the 1980s.
He was born of a Germany father and a Kenyan mother, and he is remembered for advocating for people of the Maasai community to protect their land.
He was buried in Kajiado, December 30, 2017, in a ceremony attended by various politicians.
He is survived by four wives and over 11 children and a number of grandchildren.
