National Super Alliance (Nasa) flag bearer Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka have expressed different views concerning independent candidates.

According Raila, aspirants who lost to their opponents during the nomination exercise have the right to vie as independent candidates as it is stipulated in the constitution.

“I respect their choice because it is their constitutional right to vie for any elective seat as independent candidate. I wish them well,” said Raila.

However, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka criticised those who had opted to vie for various elective seats as independent candidates saying they did not appreciate their party’s ideologies.

“Those who lost in the primaries and want to be independent candidates do not understand the ideologies of their parties,” Kalonzo said.

They were both speaking at Safaricom Kasarani stadium, Friday, during the official endorsement of Odinga as the Nasa flag bearer by his ODM party.
