Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has hit out at the Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka for nominating his son Kennedy Musyoka for the East Africa Legislative Assembly position.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap leader criticised Kalonzo saying he had offered nothing to the people of Ukambani despite being in government for years.
“Some Wiper leaders are even pushing their sons for top political jobs. They care very little about the rest of the people,” he said as quoted by Capital News.
Mutua was speaking at Machakos People's Park during a consultative meeting dubbed 'The state and future of the Akamba Nation'.
The meeting was attended by women, youth leaders, professionals and clergy drawn from the larger Ukambani region.
The Governor said Kalonzo could not be trusted with leadership as he was even unable to take control of his own Wiper Party.
“You have seen some of its top leaders including Senators Johnson Muthama and David Musila bolting out of the party. It shows the party’s fortunes are dwindling,” he added.
Mutua, who has endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election, had previously accused Kalonzo of resorting to divisive politics by isolating the Ukambani region from the government. He said the Wiper leader lacked a clear vision for the people of Ukambani.
