The political wrangles in Ukambani have threatened Kalonzo’s presidential dream. He has lost close allies from his backyard and renowned scholar Patrice Lumumba opines that this lack of support from his roots will dwindle his political ambitions.
The orator says that Ukambani played a major role in denying Musyoka the NASA presidential ticket.
“Kalonzo does not have the backing from his backyard. Governor Alfred Mutua and his financer Senator Muthama have abandoned him. However, Mutua should be very afraid of Wavinya Ndeti,” said PLO.
The Machakos senator has been a central pillar in Wiper but he has distanced himself from active Wiper politics despite being a founder member.
He accused his party leader Kalonzo Musyoka of messing up primaries. He said that there were preferred candidates like Wavinya Ndeti which denied other members like Bernard Kiala an opportunity to represent the electorate. He is said to be a financial muscle in the party.
Lumumba also pointed out the differences between the NASA running mate Kalonzo Musyoka and Maendeleo Chap Chap boss Alfred Mutua as an indicator of inadequate local support.
The Machakos County chief has endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election. He has even gone to the extent of linking Musyoka with the poverty that ravages Kamba land.
