Opposition co-chief Kalonzo Musyoka now says Kenyans are the main reason behind the National Super Alliance (NASA) leadership's defiance to recognize President Uhuru Kenyatta's presidency.

Addressing supporters from Mavoko constituency at the Wiper Party offices in Nairobi on Monday, Kalonzo reiterated the block's earlier stand, maintaining that it will not accept Uhuru's leadership as per its supporters wishes.

This, however, comes amid pressure from a section of western envoys who have urged the alliance to accept Uhuru's re-election for the sake of the nation.

However, according to the former Vice President, the calls are inconsequential as no matter how hard the ambassadors push, they cannot compel the huge number of Kenyans allied to the alliance to acknowledge Kenyatta's presidency.

''NASA and the National Resistance Movement are in the minds and hearts of our people. Even if you force Raila and myself to recognize Uhuru, can you force the supporters?" Musyoka is quoted by the Standard.

On Sunday, eleven ambassadors from the Unites States and the European Union countries called upon the coalition to drop its hard stand and instead continue with its push for dialogue, remarks that did not go down well with Musyoka.

''The envoys cannot push us to recognize what was blatant electoral injustice. NASA is a people-driven movement and leaders cannot tell supporters what to do or not recognize,'' he is further quoted.

The alliance has since inaugurated Odinga as the People's President in retaliation to Uhuru's victory declaration.
