Wiper Democratic Movement Patron Kalonzo Musyoka is set to kick off voter sensitization campaign in his Ukambani backyard, Narok and Kisii this week.
The former vice president is expected to address meetings in various places as the mass voter registration continues countrywide.
According to his press secretary Dennis Kavisu, Wiper leader will travel to Narok, Kisii and Nyamira in the course of the week. He also noted that phase one of Kalonzo’s campaign is expected to end this week before the start of phase two.
“Preparations for the tours are in top gear. The party leader met 200 Wiper party grassroots leaders from Kisii and Nyamira and commissioned them to knock on every door and mobilise people ahead of his rallies,” Mr Kavisu said, as quoted by Nation.
Borabu MP Ben Momanyi alongside Lumumba Nyaberi (Kisii) and former High Court Judge David Onyancha (Nyamira), who are both eying the gubernatorial seat in the region have affirmed to support Kalonzo during the exercise as the opposition looks forward to victory during the August polls.
Kalonzo’s press secretary re-echoed his boss’ remarks about registering in different places instead of traveling back home.
“It does not make sense to travel back home to register as a voter within this short period. It would be crucial for our supporters to stick where they are because the people back home have sufficient numbers to elect their leaders,” Mr Kavisu explained.
