Speaking while on a tour of Kangundo and Kathiani sub-counties where he inspected various ongoing projects on water, roads and healthcare institutions, Mutua sensationally claimed the former VP performed dismally compared to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who was then considered Kalonzos junior in power hierarchy in the grand coalition government led by retired president Mwai Kibaki.

"During those days, Raila influenced several development projects in Nyanza including the upgrading of Kisumu airport to international status, setting up of various universities, upgrading of hospital and so on while being the second in command then, the former VP did largely little to develop Ukambani as a region," said Dr Mutua.

Mutua, who has been at loggerheads with the Wiper party in whose ticket he clinched his seat also announced his newly launched Maendeleo Chap Chap and Unity movement would soon carry out a mass recruitment exercise in preparations for the next general election.

"We shall open Chap Chap offices in all major markets from where we shall recruit members to join the movement," he declared.

Several MCAs who accompanied the governor led by Kangundo West ward representative Mbiu Kanui vowed to support Mutuas Chap Chap movement.

Mutua, who addressed crowds in Kathiani, Kyevaluki and Kakuyuni markets pledged to offer a different style of doing politics with a view to transforming the livelihoods of local residents.

"I came to change the game from the old style of politics of empty rhetoric to a brand new way of empowering people and bringing services to the masses in a faster and more efficient manner," he declared.

He said his government will remain committed to pursuing the implementation of key programs outlined in its manifesto which include provision of water to all households, improvement of road infrastructure as well as upgrading and expanding of healthcare facilities within the county.

Mutua promised to upgrade the Kathiani-Kangundo road and install street lighting to all tarmacked roads throughout the county.

He also toured Kakuyuni health center and commissioned a borehole at Kyevaluki primary school in Kangundo sub-county.
