Manson Oyongo says should Kalonzo Musyoka run separately for presidency then it would be a huge advantage for President Uhuru Kenyatta.
With only five months to election, Musyoka’s Wiper party has yet again given an ultimatum, insisting that it would go alone if Musyoka is not flag bearer.
Talks within technical committee under Senator James Orengo over modalities of choosing opposition flag bearer have reportedly hit a snug with the Wiper Party demanding that Kalonzo is made flag bearer.
On Wednesday, National Assembly Minority Leader Francis Nyenze maintained that Wiper will not accept to play a second fiddle in NASA.
“Uhuru’s prayer is that Kalonzo runs alone in August and that would severely weaken the opposition,” said the South Mugirango MP who is also going for Kisii governorship.
He added: “If in deed Nyenze is communicating what Kalonzo thinks, then it would be hard for NASA to beat Uhuru.”
But on Wednesday, NASA’s principal Musalia Mudavadi hinted that the coalition will field a presidential candidate by May, three months to elections.
Should the opposition remain intact; experts say Kenyatta would face a stiff competition in August polls that could even sabotage his reelection.
