Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has denied claims that he intends to bolt out of Wiper ahead of the forthcoming general polls.
The senator insisted that he is a loyal member of the political outfit, adding that he is in Wiper to stay since the former vice president Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has never mistreated him
Earlier on, a section of leaders from the area had pointed an accusing finger at the legislator for sabotaging efforts to push for Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka’s candidature in the National Super Alliance (NASA).
The senator has made it clear that Wiper gave him a direct ticket, adding that he will be on the ballot box come August 8.
“You defect from a party when you have no ticket. I have nomination papers from Wiper. I have never been mistreated in Wiper, so why should I jump to another party?” Muthama told Nation.
The lawmaker is said to be unhappy with the way some of the Wiper members are treating him after he failed to be among the frontrunners in the fight for Kalonzo to ascend to power.
Muthama did not attend several events including the Emali meeting that brought together leaders from Ukambani with the aim of strategizing how to campaign for Kalonzo in the forthcoming general polls.
