Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu has weighed in on Kalonzo-Muthama 'fallout' saying that Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has lost the grip on Ukambani voters.

Mutambu, a fierce critic of Musyoka and now a Wiper rebel MP, has said that Kalonzo is no longer the Ukambani kingpin and his Wiper house is headed for a big fall ahead of 2017 General elections.

"Those who are saying that the departure of rebels of Wiper will have no impact on the party should think twice because Kalonzo has lost control of the party and Ukambani in general.

See what is happening between him and Muthama, a trusted lieutenant," Mutambu told K24 TV on Tuesday.

Mutambu argued that there is a strong wave of discontentment among Ukambani voters who have lost trust in Kalonzo's leadership.

"They are saying we have to rally behind Kalonzo Musyoka to be able to defend our seats next year. That is a fallacy. Take an example of Machakos, five of the 8 MPs from the county were elected in 2013 through different political parties other than Wiper.

In fact, Kalonzo Musyoka is not about to lose the the grip on Ukambani, he lost it a long time ago," added the outspoken MP.

He noted that if Kalonzo had that much 'taunted influence' on Ukambani voters, they would have heard him and elected Kalembe Ndile during the Kibwezi West by-election where Patrick Musimba was able to retain the seat after his election had earlier on been nullified by the High Court.
