Jubilee government is still on the receiving end for launching ‘fake’ projects in the run to the August poll.
Raila Odinga’s running mate and former vice president Kalonzo Musyoka claimed on Tuesday that Presdient Uhuru Kenyatta were out to dupe Kamba electorates by commissioning projects that have been in existence.
Musyoka said the head of state and his deputy were engaging in high level political gimmicks with an intent to fool Kenyans ahead of the seemingly competitive August poll.
He took issue with Friday’s launch of Kiambere-Mwingi Water and Sanitation project in Mwingi North in Kitui County. Kalonzo, also a former Kitui North legislator asked the Uhuruto duo to explain why they were launching an existing project in the absence of the contractor and representatives of donor funders-Italian government.
He boasted of having initiated phase one of the project in question personally during his tenure in parliament. Further, he said he supervised the phase two of the project which now serves Mwingi North and Mwingi West constituencies.
The opposition coalition is in an unending tussle with the government over key projects at the centre point of 2017’s campaign strategy. One of the biggest contest is over the Standard Gauge Railway that NASA principals take credit to having incepted the idea during their days in the coalition government.
Their Jubilee counterparts have over time discredited NASA as copy cats that cannot justify what they did to Kenyans during their time in senior government posts.
