Kalonzo also says opposition leader Raila Odinga failed to push for his appointment to the second most powerful position in the country.

In his ‘Against All Odds ‘memoirs to be launched on Wednesday, Kalonzo claims that Kibaki breached a Memorandum of Understanding which they had signed in 2002.

“I was shocked when Kibaki appointed Moody Awori as Vice President. According to MoU we had signed, I was to be Second Vice President which did not happen. I thought that when Kijana Wamalwa died I would be an automatic choice,” writes Kalonzo.

“Raila seems to be satisfied with his Roads Ministry portfolio and he did little to support my quest. This I where I felt betrayed by Kibaki,” he adds.

However, Kalonzo could later fall out with Kibaki after the 2005 Referendum in which his team successfully rejected a constitutional draft proposed by Mwai Kibaki.
