Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has insisted that he did not grab the 200 acres of land making up his Yatta Farm.
Last year, Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua called up the state authorities to investigate the former vice President over the property.
Kalonzo, however, denied the accusations terming them baseless. In an exclusive interview with the Nation, the Cord co-principal distanced himself from the claims arguing that his opponents want to use the same to bring him down politically as he eyes presidency in the upcoming general polls.
“The 200 acres that make up Yatta farm were bought with a loan from a bank and the issue of impropriety in its acquisition does not arise. However, this has been the only concoction aimed at damaging my otherwise clean reputation” he said as quoted by the Nation.
While appearing before the Parliamentary account committee (PAC) Mutua claimed that Kalonzo had used dubious ways to acquire the piece of land.
“In addition to the irregular acquisition of his current Yatta Farm as documented in the Ndung’u report, he, during his term as Vice President influenced an extra allocation to himself of about 200 acres of land adjacent to his Yatta Farm, land that belongs to NYS,” Mutua said, as quoted by the Star.
