Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is expected in the country over the weekend for the burial of the late Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze who died on Wednesday last week at Nairobi Hospital after a long battle with colon cancer.
The burial for the late MP is scheduled for Tuesday next week.
According to sources, Kalonzo will jet back to the country on Saturday.
The Wiper Party leader has been in Germany for the last two months attending to his ailing wife Pauline Musyoka who is receiving specialized treatment.
Apart from attending Nyenze’s burial, Kalonzo will also attend the swearing-in of his son Kennedy Musyoka who has been nominated to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
The swearing in will take place in Arusha, Tanzania next week.
Wiper Party Organizing Secretary Robert Mbui says that the former Vice President (VP) has confirmed attendance at the two events.
Mbui in an interview with local daily on Thursday said that Kalonzo will also use the opportunity to get a brief on NASA’s electoral reforms agenda.
“We also expect him to attend NASA’s rally planned for Mombasa on Sunday to kick-start people’s assembly agenda,” he said.
On Sunday last week, NASA postponed Raila Odinga’s swearing-in on grounds that he could not take oath in absence of his deputy Kalonzo Musyoka.
Kalonzo is said to have requested NASA to postpone the swearing-in which will not take place in February 2018 according to NASA’s Committee on People’s assembly.
This comes even as speculations emerge that Jubilee is determined to woo Kalonzo from the opposition.
Political analysts observe that Jubilee MPs move to support back Kalonzo’s son Kennedy Musyoka for EALA seat is an indicator that they want the former VP out of Raila Odinga’s camp.
