Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is the latest opposition co-leader to condemn a recent offensive aimed at principals accused of betrayal.
Musyoka, his Amani party Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula were recently subjected to bashing by a section of the National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders for skipping the coalition supremo Raila Odinga's mock swearing-in ceremony.
The trio was branded cowards and traitors following their assurance to supporters that they would attend the event, only to make a last-minute U-turn.
According to Musyoka, however, such attacks were uncalled for.
''When you attack and insult your party leader and coalition co-principals it raises questions about your leadership qualities,'' said the former Vice President.
This was an echo to a similar remark made by Mudavadi who accused the leaders of using the matter for political mileage.
''This is also to blame on the excitement of people who are in office for the first time and are now thinking that the best way to gain more prominence is by insulting their party leaders,'' Mudavadi told the media from his office on Tuesday.
Musyoka observed that the insults could reflect on the leaders' performance in the approaching 2022 elections.
'' Let's be careful with our statements because such remarks could cost us in the future,'' he advised.
