Kenyans have nothing to celebrate more since the country has turned into a nation of strikes, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said.

Kalonzo said no regime since the country was declared independent in 1963 has ever suffered more strikes than President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee administration. He was speaking in Voi on Friday when NASA leaders held a series of rallies in Taita Taveta County.“Kenya has been turned into a country of strikes,” Kalonzo said.“First it was the teachers, then the doctors and now the nurses. Who knows, ordinary Kenyans may also strike because of the high cost of living.Nurses are currently on strike demanding a salary increase a demand which the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) has already rejected.SRC argues the economy is strained and cannot thus support the increase workers’ salaries running to the tune of billions of shillings. The nurses’ strike came after doctors called off theirs demanding a 300 per cent pay increase which according to the medics is captured in a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) signed with the government.“This clearly indicates Jubilee has failed,” Kalonzo said at the rally also attended by other NASA leaders Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula. In unison, the four called on Kenyans to vote for NASA in August and send home the Jubilee government that has shown incapacity in solving basic problems facing Kenyans.Kalonzo said the fact that the maize flour currently in the market is labeled GoK means it is public food and should therefore not be sold.“Let me remind Jubilee that labeling Unga GoK means it is public food and it should therefore be supplied for free,” he said.
