Kalonzo, who spoke at Mkunguni Square on Lamu Island, said that the recent imposition of curfews in the region is a scheme to steal votes.

The former vice president said that it is evident Jubilee has sensed defeat, adding that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto are struggling to retain power when that time comes.

"Jubilee knows that their end is near, and that's why they are trying everything they can imagine. The Lamu curfew, for instance, is just a strategy to steal votes. But lucky for us, Kenyans are alert and they don't have a way to steal the election," he said, as quoted by Star.

His remarks were reiterated by Former Prime Minister, Raila Amolo Odinga, also NASA Presidential candidate.

"Whatever it is that Jubilee plans to achieve with the curfew isn't genuine. We want it lifted immediately because it will affect the voting pattern,” Raila said.

This is after acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i imposed a curfew in Lamu, Garissa and Tana River among other areas ahead of the August general elections.
