NASA deputy presidential candidate Kalonzo Musyoka has missed out Nyenze’s burial.

The Wiper leader is said to have missed a flight to return to Kenya.

Musyoka was expected to jet into the country last evening ahead of Nyenze’s burial which is taking place today in his Kabati, Kitui West.

A close family friend to the former deputy president said the Wiper head, who has been attending to his ailing wife in Germany, could not secure a flight on time to make it for the burial.

Raila Odinga and NASA co-principals Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula are set to grace the event which will also be attended by members of NASA’s National Resistance Movement (NRM) wing.

Kitui Governor, Charity Ngilu, who is also the leader of the NARC Party – an affiliate of the NASA opposition coalition – will be the host of the event set to be attended by thousands of mourners who will be received by the late Nyenze’s widow, Edith Nyenze.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has been represented at the burial by House Majority leader Aden Duale and Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

Opposition politics are set to take center stage after NASA chief Raila Odinga reaffirmed, two days ago at the Coast, that he will be sworn in soon as the “people’s president.”

Political undertones on the absence of Kalonzo, who was Odinga’s running mate in the last election, are also set to feature at the burial.

Francis Mwanzia Nyenze died on December 7, 2017 at the age of 60 after a long battle with Colon Cancer.
