NASA running mate Kalonzo Musyoka has mocked DP William Ruto over reports that Weston Hotel, which is owned by the DP, infected doctors with cholera.
Speaking during the NASA tour of western region over the weekend, Musyoka lamented that the UhuRuto led government has refused to pay doctors but they are quick to infect with cholera.
“Jubilee are the cause of cholera. They have refused to pay doctors then infect them with cholera. Kenyans have decided to stump Jubilee out of office,” Kalonzo said while campaigning in Busia.
However, the Star reports that at least 10 victims have been discharged from The Nairobi Hospital. This follows calls by doctors to close down the hotel to control the disease after majority of the culture tests were positive.
“There is a national guideline on cholera management. Weston should have been quarantined. Otherwise infections might continue and some people might go home and expose their families to infection,” said Dr Simon Kigondu as quoted by the Star.
The hotel through its general manager Michael Onzile denied the reports. They have faulted the media and health officials for spreading falsehood.
“We take great exception to the statements attributed to high level officials in the Ministry of Health, allegedly exonerating the hotel that was the clear nexus of this infection, and instead blaming the victims for bringing this affliction upon themselves,” Onzile said as reported by the Star.
