According to Kalonzo and his Cord co-principal Moses Wetangula, who were on a voter sensitization mission in Wajir County, the anomaly points to steps in place to rig the elections.

The two leaders had gone to Wajir to ensure the residents learn the importance of registering as voters in the month-long voter exercise that kicked off on Monday.

The county, which is considered as a major ground for the opposition and the two leaders’ tour was only meant to cement the position.

In their visit to one of the area’s registration points, waqberi Primary school, the two leaders decided to check the status of their registration, only to face the shocking results.

As the IEBC official keyed in Kalonzo’s details, two names with the same identity number came up, one was his and the other of  Salome Njoroge.

Kalonzo now insists this is a ploy by the leading party, Jubilee to rig the August elections .

"We had gotten the information, that through the registrar of person, there is a plan to rig this election, they already have 1 million votes, through this kind of rigging,” said Musyoka.

"The registrar of persons, the retired officer has been held in office for purposes of perfecting this mischief,” said Wetangula.

The two leaders are now calling on all Kenyans to be vigilant, and to confirm their status even as new voters are being enlisted in the system.

"The rigging of elections is not a one-day event, it is not done on polling day, it’s a process. Systems are set like what you have seen here in Wajir and they are perfected,” added Wetangula.

IEBC is targeting 6 million new voters in an exercise that kicked off on Monday across the country.
