Maalim says that Muthama is a seasoned politician whose contribution is needed in Wiper and the large National Super Alliance (NASA).
In an interview with the People Daily, Maalim asked Muthama to give it a second thought on his decision to ditch Wiper.
“It will be catastrophic if senator Muthama abandons Wiper and NASA,” he said as quoted by the Star.
Maalim said that Muthama has been on the front line agitating for change in the country’s leadership.
He added that the senator has been vocal against Jubilee’s alleged misrule adding that Kenyans have faith in his (Muthama) style of leadership.
Maalim said that he will personally reach out to Muthama for him to dialogue on key issues he has raised in the Wiper party.
On Monday, senator Muthama ditched Wiper, accusing party leader Musyoka of alleged favoritism and discrimination.
The senator claimed that there was no democracy in the Kalonzo led party.
He went on to allege that some aspirants were imposed on locals in the recently concluded party primaries.
In an interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday, Muthama said that he will not contest for the senate seat if Governor Alfred Mutua and Wiper candidate Wavinya Ndeti will be on the ballot for the governor seat.
He said that he cannot work with Mutua or Wavinya claiming that they are dishonest.
Muthama went on to claim that Machakos deputy governor Bernard Kiala was rigged out in the gubernatorial nomination.
The senator said that he will only campaign for NASA presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga.
Political analysts have warned that NASA risks losing on Ukambani votes if the in-fights and disgruntlement in the Kalonzo Musyoka led party are not addressed.
