Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka at a past event. Photo/ zipo.co.keWith internal wrangles continuing to dog the Wiper Mombasa camp, party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has now been asked to explain why the party’s nomination exercise for gubernatorial aspirants failed to take place last Saturday as planned.Nyali MP Hezron Awiti who is embroiled in bitter rivalry with Senator Hassan Omar is now demanding for an explanation from Kalonzo even as he reads malice in the whole thing.“Who postponed the meeting? What criteria did they use to arrive at the decision? Is there anything sinister? I have no idea,” he said.Amid claims that the Wiper leadership is favouring the Senator who is also the party secretary general, Awiti maintains that he will be on the ballot come August irrespective of the party.“Awiti is Awiti, with or without a political party. We expect him to be the Mombasa Governor come August 8,” said Mombasa County Speaker Thaddeus Rajwayi. With the latest opinion poll showing dismal performance by the Wiper pair, critics say it is high time they put their house in order lest their ambition to unseat incumbent Governor Hassan Joho remains a dream.
