The National Super Alliance co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka has described reports that he deliberately left for Dubai to skip the 'planned' NASA meeting as “mischievous and malicious”.
Kalonzo said there was no planned meeting between Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula, Musalia Mudavadi and himself.
The Wiper party leader said it is now that they are trying to schedule a meeting before the weekend to put things into perspective.
“It is only now that we are scheduling a meeting, certainly before the weekend. I can tell you, I haven’t seen my brother Raila Odinga since he came back from the US. He came back and on the same day, I flew to Dubai for this important meeting. We spoke by phone when I arrived here,” he said on Wednesday evening.
On Tuesday, reports emerged that Kalonzo delayed his Dubai business meeting to avoid meeting the other NASA principals.
The former vice president said the reports were attempts by their rivals to ensure NASA splits.
“It’s ridiculous for anyone to say that a meeting that was neither planned nor scheduled flopped. If you ask me, this is all part of the propaganda being waged from all manner of directions to scuttle NASA. It is these plans that will flop, not our meetings,” he said.
ODM leader Raila speaking after he arrived back to the country on Monday also dismissed media reports that Kalonzo could quit NASA and seek the presidency if he is not named the coalition’s flag bearer.
“I have no reason to believe that Hon Kalonzo will go it alone. He has been very clear that he is in NASA to stay and I have no reason to second-guess him. Kalonzo has addressed press conferences and public rallies including last weekend where he stated categorically that he is in NASA,” he said.
