Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka will soon embark on a tour to the Rift Valley region in a hunt for the Kalenjin vote ahead for the 2017 elections.
"I am going for the presidency in the 2017 election and I urge the community to back me. I have been their true friend since time immemorial," Kalonzo said during an interview on Kass FM on Wednesday.
According to the Star, the former vice president cited his support for former president Daniel Moi, saying he rallied behind him "when other communities rebelled".
He said despite being in different political camps, there is no grudge between him and the former Head of State.
Kalonzo further noted that Deputy President William Ruto, Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto and Kanu chairman Gideon Moi are all his friends.
He said he will strive to ensure he is named the Cord flag bearer in next year's elections by convincing his co-principals Raila Odinga and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang'ula.
"I want my friends to give me a chance and I will ensure Cord wins the 2017 elections," he said, adding he is "sellable".
