A rift has erupted in the National Super Alliance (NASA) after Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka opposed ODM’s call for the six piece voting pattern.
Kalonzo who was addressing Muslims after the NASA brigade joined faithful for an Iftar dinner at Serani grounds in Mombasa on Friday, said the six piece pattern should not be encouraged as it will underrate NASA affiliate parties.Kalonzo argued NASA was a coalition of various political parties which needs to work together in a bid to send the Jubilee government home.“I do not support the six piece pattern encouraged by my colleagues from ODM. This time round I will plan a demonstration to match out of NASA if we are discriminated within our own coalition,” said Kalonzo.“I believe and I know that we all have one objective that is forming the national government after the coming general election, so let us forget about this six piece issue,” he added. However, NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga said though he is in NASA, his supporters cannot abandon the ODM party.“Tuko kwa NASA lakini msisahau chungwa. Though we are in NASA, don’t forget ODM,” said Raila. On his part, Changamwe MP Omar Mwinyi, who had attended the dinner called on the five NASA leaders to be very careful with their remarks lest they divide supporters.“Let us not oppose each other in public podiums. Let us discuss other issues privately and solve them or else we will lose the Coast region to Jubilee,” he said.
