Odinga had joined his longtime political foe, Daniel Moi, by accepting a merger between his NDP and Moi’s KANU.

In his new book, Against All Odds, Musyoka gives in depth details on intrigues surrounding Moi’s succession prior to 2022 elections.

“Raila and Moi were against my ascendancy to the top office in 2002. I was prepared to win the presidency having been in politics for a while by then,” he says.

“We were headed for KANU nominations at Kasarani where I was aiming the Vice Chairperson seat but the two supported Harun Mwau against my expectations. I am glad that I won after all,” Kalonzo says.

Musyoka also reveals how a section of powerful ministers fallout with Moi when he ‘imposed’ Uhuru Kenyatta as KANU’s presidential candidate.
