Mavoko MP Patrick Makau has said that Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka remains the undisputed UKambani political leader.
Makau says that Kalonzo’s political experience cannot be matched by anyone in Ukambani region.
Speaking in Mavoko on Monday, Makau rubbished claims by some politicians in the region that Kalonzo is no longer Ukambani political kingpin.
“Kalonzo is the Ukambani political leader and this is going to be for a very long time,” he said.
The MP said that Kalonzo is the face of Kamba politics adding that he has the backing of all locals in the region.
Makau said that Ukambani will not be swayed to vote in a different direction in the August 8 general election.
There have been claims that Kalonzo’s popularity in Ukambani is diminishing after some of his close allies ditched him in favour of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.
Kalonzo’s popularity in Ukambani is also said to be under challenge following the political rise of Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua.
According to political analysts, Mutua’s political fame is steadily rising giving a strong challenge to Kalonzo as the Ukambani political leader.
Governor Mutua through his Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) Party is said to be attracting huge support base in the Ukambani region.
