The National Super Allince (Nasa) deputy flag bearer Kalonzo Musyoka has criticised President Uhuru Kenyatta for failing to acknowledge the presence of Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga during the 54th Madaraka celebrations.
The former prime minister, who attended the celebrations, Thursday, June 1, 2017, held at Kabiru-ini Stadium, Nyeri county, was neither given any chance to address the public nor even his presence acknowledged by all leaders who spoke including Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto.
In a statement, Friday, Raila’s running mate accused Jubilee government of snubbing the true champions of democracy.
“This was a clear demonstration of the divisiveness with which Jubilee has run this country for the last four years,” said Kalonzo.
“It does not serve the interests of Kenya for Jubilee to try to ignore the facts and hope to undermine the quest of Kenyans to put in place a new administration,” he added.
Kalonzo noted that in the event Nasa wins in the August 8 polls, they will hold an inclusive 55th Madaraka Day fete in 2018.
“It is Nasa’s promise to the people of Kenya that Madaraka Day 2018 will serve as a uniting factor for the people,” Kalonzo said.
