Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka says he cannot join the Jubilee Party to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto because the outfit is a ‘sinking ship’.During a campaign event in Ukambani, President Uhuru Kenyatta urged Kalonzo, the NASA presidential running mate, to join Jubilee and work with Ruto in moving the country forward once his term expires. “I urge my brother Kalonzo not to be misled by Raila Odinga (flag bearer). Come and work with us. When I leave office, you can work with William and move this country forward,” President Kenyatta said, as quoted by the Star. In response, Kalonzo claims that Jubilee is a sinking ship that he is set to lose the August 8 general election. “It is comical for Uhuru and Ruto to ask me to join them as they march towards Opposition trenches, for that is surely where they will be after NASA takes over power,” the former vice president said. The Wiper boss said the statements by Uhuru and Ruto showed frustrations and bitterness within the Jubilee Party. “Such utterances reflect the state of panic and utter desperation on the part of the President and DP,” he said. President Kenyatta hopes to get a slice of the Ukambani votes, most of which are expected to go to NASA’s Raila Odinga.
