Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has responded to Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama over claims he handpicked his favourite leaders during the just concluded primaries.
Kalonzo said he has no enemies, whether in Wiper Party or the ruling Jubilee party.
“I don’t have an enemy, and I love even my opponents. Whether they are in Jubilee, Nasa, in this meeting, whether they are not here….and that is the true leadership spirit…so msije mkajibizana vibaya (let’s not hurl insults at each other,” Kalonzo said on Tuesday during a Wiper meeting, where successful aspirants were issued with nomination certificates.
Senator Muthama, who had vowed not to campaign for Wiper, was absent at the meeting.
Monday, Muthama accused Kalonzo of imposing candidates on voters in the controversial nominations.
Muthama cited unjust nominations for the governor’s seats in Makueni, Machakos and Kitui counties, which he blamed on the party leader.
He also said he will not defend his seat in the August polls, but will campaign for Nasa presidential candidate, Raila Odinga.
“It is no longer a democratic party. To put it plainly, as I always prefer to do, I cannot go out and campaign for Wiper anywhere in this country,” he said.
