Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka has promised to be Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho's lawyer if the government arrests him.
Kalonzo said opposition leaders will not be cowed by Jubilee’s threats of arrest and detention and will instead continue to unmask the evils perpetrated by the ruling coalition.
"Jubilee has been threatening to arrest and detain Joho for standing for the rights of Coast people. Let them arrest him and they will face me in court defending my brother," said Kalonzo amidst cheers from the crowd.
The Cord co-principal made the remarks at the Garissa Primary School Grounds on Saturday during a public rally to campaign for former Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim.
Joho, who had accompanied the Wiper leader, said he is being targeted to divert Kenyans’ attention from corruption and other serious issues facing the country.
"Jubilee government is rotten to its core with massive corruption and tribalism. I will not relent in condemning and exposing its wrongdoings," Joho said.
He promised Jubilee leaders a tough run for their money in the forthcoming general election.
This comes after the governor was on Friday detained at the Urban Police Station in Mombasa.
However, Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa accused Joho of faking his arrest so as to embarrass the government.
