NASA principal Kalonzo Musyoka has called for peace and tolerance among Kenyans even as the alliance filed a petition at the Supreme Court challenging the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta in the just concluded elections.
According to the Wiper party leader, there was no need for Kenyans to shed blood because of politicians and appealed for calm.
He asked Kenyans to patiently await the verdict of the Supreme Court and expressed optimism that justice would be delivered.
“Let justice be our shield and defender,” he said.
He urged MCAs elected on Wiper party ticket not to shift from the party that enabled them to win the hearts of voters.
He said MCAs who will shift to other political parties will be disciplined.
“We do not want political hooliganism, MCAs should tow the party line and execute their duties as required,” said the NASA presidential running mate.
The former vice president noted that MCAs should work together with the governor to avoid a replica of wrangling witnessed in the first two years of devolution.
“Makueni lost valuable time during the wrangles which would have otherwise been used to develop the county,” he added.
Kalonzo asked elected leaders to work towards alleviating poverty and other problems that had affected Ukambani region for long.
