Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said National Super Alliance (NASA) main agenda in Mombasa is ensuring Jubilee aspirant Suleiman Shahbal does not replace Governor Hassan Joho.
Speaking in Mshomoroni on Sunday, Kalonzo said there will be no fallout in Cord or Wiper if both parties field candidates during the forthcoming general election.“Our biggest enemy now is Shahbal. I gave him the Wiper ticket in 2013 and honestly, he tried. But decamping to Jubilee is like taking a pig to the mosque in Mombasa,” he said, as quoted by the Star.Kalonzo also said that he will mediate between Senator Hassan Omar and Nyali MP Hezron Awiti as to who will battle it out with Joho ahead of the August polls to avoid fallout within the party. “I’m ready to ensure there is no animosity between these two leaders. A solution will soon be found on who will be Wiper’s flag bearer in the governor’s race,” he added. The former vice President remarks come after talks between Omar and Awiti collapsed. Both Awiti and Omar have insisted that they will be on the ballot box during the forthcoming general polls. Despite appointing a secret panel to pick the right candidate to face Joho no agreement has been reached yet.
