Wiper leader and National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential running mate Kalonzo Musyoka is a man under political siege, a political analyst has noted.

Peter Ngure, a Kiambu based political commentator says that Kalonzo’s political career is under threat following his fallout with Senator David Musila.

Ngure says that Kalonzo did a mistake by allowing Musila to ditch Wiper and abandon him.

He claimed that senator Musila has been Kalonzo’s close ally and confident over the years and that letting him go was Kalonzo’s biggest mistake.

In an interview on Monday, Ngure said that Musila’s experience in politics has in a way shaped Kalonzo’s popularity in the Ukambani region.

“I think Kalonzo made a big mistake by allowing Musila to quit the party, he should have begged him to stay,” he said.

Musila claimed that Kalonzo’s popularity in Kitui and Ukambani could dwindle bearing in mind that Musila was his key point man.

“For Kalonzo to reclaim and maintain his political ambitions he has to reach out to the allies he has fallen out with,” he said.

The analyst said that Kalonzo’s popularity is being ‘eaten’ up by the likes of Machakos governor Alfred Mutua.

Kalonzo’s party is under the spot light with claims of disgruntlement among members.

Last year as a section of members ditched the party in favour of Jubilee.

There are claims that Kalonzo has also fallen out with his close ally Machakos senator Johnstone Muthama.

Speculations have been rife that Muthama is considering ditching Kalonzo’s party in favour of Raila Odinga’s ODM. Muthama has however dismissed the claims saying that his relationship with Kalonzo is tight.

Senator Muthama has been missing Wiper’s key events and also skipped the unveiling of NASA presidential flag bearer at Uhuru Park on Thursday last week.

Muthama is said to be angry at Kalonzo for allegedly preferring gubernatorial hopeful Wavinya Ndeti against Bernard Kiala.

The senator is also said to be mad at Kalonzo for allegedly campaigning for Governor Julius Malombe’s re-election and not senator David Musila who has been the Wiper party chairman.
