Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi has announced that Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka's political career will end if he continues staying out of power.
The Wiper MP who spoke to the Standard noted that if Kalonzo accepts to deputise any other person in future, he will have committed political suicide.
“What we are saying as Wiper and the Kamba community is that we will never again allow Kalonzo to be number two to anybody. It does not matter whether he has the backing of Raila, Musalia Mudavadi or anybody else, he will be on the presidential ballot come 2022,” The Standard quoted by the Standard.
Mr Mulyungi noted that his boss will take a shot at the seat alone if he is not endorsed as the 2022 presidential candidate. He noted that Kalonzo has supported Raila twice for the presidential contest but they got into trouble.
He argued that it was only wise for Kalonzo to be number one in 2022 because they cannot afford to 'gamble' again.
Mr Mulyungi' remarks come just a week after a section of Wiper leaders endorsed Mr Musyoka’s 2022 presidential bid demanding that the party be treated equally within the NASA.
Led by deputy party leader Farah Maalim, the leaders affirmed that Kalonzo should be given preference during the 2022 General Election.
Maalim stated that their party leader had made enough sacrifice since the 2007 election, therefore, should be the flagbearer in the upcoming polls.Makueni Governor Prof Kivutha Kibwana who is also the new Wiper Party Chairman noted that the country should know that Musyoka’s candidature is “not a joke”.
