Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has, in a turn of events, defended his Orange Democratic Party (ODM) counterpart Raila Odinga.
Odinga has lately been subjected to condemnations by opposition's National Super Alliance (NASA) affiliate parties over his recent peace pact with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Members of Parliament drawn from the Amani National Congress (ANC), Wiper and Ford Kenya parties have protested the agreement, accusing ODM of mistreating them to facilitate its move to the ruling Jubilee side.
However, addressing the press after a meeting with the party chiefs Friday, Musyoka protected the former Prime Minister from the accusations, maintaining that himself and ODM are still part of NASA.
"Raila has not left NASA, we are still united under the coalition," he said.
Musyoka, who has since requested for a similar meeting with Kenyatta, on matters national unity, further downplayed any possibilities of the coalition falling as a result of the ongoing wrangles.
"We have already expressed our desire to engage the President but that does not mean that we are moving out of NASA. We will remain in the alliance," he added.
His remarks, however, come at a time when a section of the three parties lawmakers are set to convene a meeting to rebrand NASA into a three party alliance, excluding the Orange party.
