Kalonzo claims that the country’s economy is doing badly under Jubilee’s leadership.

Speaking on citizen TV’s JKL Show, Kalonzo said that Kenyans are grappling with hard economic conditions occasioned with high prices for basic commodities.

The former Vice President said that Uhuru’s administration has failed to stabilize the country’s economy four years since taking office.

“The country’s economy is getting worse every day and Jubilee government seems not bothered,” he said.

Kalonzo said that the economy was flourishing during former President Mwai Kibaki’s administration adding that poor economic policies being implemented by Jubilee administration is to blame for harsh economic conditions acing the country.

“It gets worrying when a packet of maize floor retails Sh150 and no one from the government seems concerned,” he said.

Kalonzo also criticized Jubilee’s development agenda saying that more money is being spend on long term projects than on short term projects.

Kalonzo asked Uhuru’s administration to intervene and lower prices for basic commodities.

He at the same time said that NASA will cushion Kenyans from unfavorable economic conditions if it forms government in August.

Kenyans are grappling with harsh economic conditions occasioned with high prices for basic commodities.

A 2kg packet of maize floor is currently retailing at Sh152 up from Sh118 in December last year.

A packet of milk is retailing at Sh60 up from Sh40 in December.

On Tuesday, the government said that it will release 1 Million bags of maize to millers in efforts to reduce maize floor prices.

Agriculture CS Willy Bett said that prices of maize floor will reduce to Sh115 by next week.

The government has also ordered importation of maize from Mexico to cushion Kenyans from high prices.

The high prices for basic commodities has been occasioned by  drought and famine sweeping through several counties across the country.
