Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu appeared before the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) on Monday.
The Narc Party leader's presence at the Francis Ole Kaparo-led commission followed summons to respond to allegations of incitement leading to ethnic animosity and the burning of private property - a lorry ferrying charcoal from Kitui to Kiambu county.
Ngilu denied the allegations, terming them as false, saying the ban on ferrying charcoal from her county would not be lifted.
According to Ngilu, the ban was imposed following environmental degradation and cutting of trees in Kitui, leaving land bare hence affecting rainfall.
Also present was NASA deputy leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who stood in solidarity with the first-time county boss.
Kalonzo slammed Kaparo, wondering why he summoned Ngilu, only for her to find out that owners of the lorry were the complainants.
He said NCIC ought to have informed her, rather than summoning her 'with no reason'.
Kalonzo backed the ban imposed by Ngilu, saying charcoal businessmen had left Kitui people to suffer due to lack of rains.
According to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), Ngilu uttered incitement speech while in Mutha, Kitui County.
