Speaking at the Southern Eastern of Kenya University (SEKU) University 5th Graduation Ceremony in Kitui on Tuesday, Kalonzo said that electoral justice will remain a 'dream' unless Kenyans join hands in demanding for reforms.

He said that Maalim presented concrete evidence of illegalities and irregularities in the Garissa Parliamentary election and wondered how the court could uphold the re-election of Aden Duale.

"It is a blow not only to Garissa Township people but also Kenyans who believe in the quest for electoral justice and reforms," he said.

The Wiper leader asked Maalim not to give up fighting for justice.

The High court on Tuesday upheld Duale's re-election by dismissing a petition that had been lodged by Maalim.

High Court Judge Hedwing Ongundi ruled that Duale was validly re-elected in last year's polls and that the petitioner failed to produce sufficient evidence to nullify the election.

The court slapped Maalim with Sh 6 Million fine as costs for the petition.

Maalim has said that he will appeal the High court ruling.

While welcoming the ruling, Duale extended an olive branch to the former National Assembly deputy speaker, saying he is ready to work with him for the benefit of Garissa people.
